• A Day in the Life,  Things I Like

    Merry Christmas!

I hope that all your worries and fears are gone, even just for this day. People say that Christmas is magical (at least in movies.) I want to believe that. I want to believe that everyone can be joyful on this day even if the worse has happened in the past. I’m spending time with my family and we are having a fabulous time. A family doesn’t have to be mom and dad, it can be friends. Surround yourself with people who love you and support you. Remember that happiness comes from happenings, so be joyful, be joyful that you woke up and experienced this day. I hope you have…

Christmas Trees Go Up Before December

If you are one of the late people placing their trees up around this time you are probably stressing. There is barely anything to put onto your tree except those plastic balls that are about fifteen dollars for a pack of thirty. They are cute, but not that cute. If you find a decoration you like, it’s only one of them. I would suggest something for the future. Decorate your tree before Thanks Giving. It will make it so much easier for you to enjoy your holiday. I mean you can be super early like me and decorate in October, but that’s only if you have like seven trees. But…

    Destress During Christmas

Christmas is supposed to be a joyous time, so stress should not be in your vocabulary.¬† If you are anything like me, you are thinking about everything you would want to do before the holiday is over. Here’s the thing, Christmas will be special without all the activities we do, they are a bonus. If you are stressing on how to make Christmas special, stop. Spend time with those who matter and try to make the best memories. Try to make memorable memories…

    Just Say Merry Christmas

I get annoyed when people pretend like it’s not Christmas. I know that they didn’t forget because they are standing in a room with garland hanging over their head. I walk around in my Christmas gear spreading cheer and they I meet that one person who looks at me like I committed a cardinal sin. Celebrating Christmas is fun and cheerful. Some of the people you meet are past the Grinch but bah humbug. I don’t know why some people are miserable during this time, but I don’t think it’s because everyone has depression. I think that people want to spread their misery throughout the year. If they are not…

What it’s Like to Be Depressed During Christmas

I never knew that I had depression until I was twenty-two years old. The year before I remember sitting in my bedroom with my big pretty Christmas tree and I was in my room thinking about dying. I couldn’t snap out of it. I figured it was my birth control, so I stopped taking it, I later found out it was not the cause. I couldn’t pinpoint why I was feeling so melancholy. It was the most joyful time of the year. I wasn’t going through anything, my family was in a great place and I had just finished the first quarter of my senior year. Christmas is more depressing…
