When you are feeling a little sad there is always a way to pick yourself up and pick a big smile on your face. First thing first, don’t ever put food into your mouth to feel happy. You don’t want the weight.
I have been there and done that. I’m telling you the truth. Don’t do it. But every-so-often a cup of ice cream is good for the soul and I stand by that. But don’t eat it every day. Now since I have gotten that out of the way, let me tell you how I make myself feel better.
For the past couple of nights, I have watched YouTube videos on penguins. I can tell you how wonderful and fascinating they are. I never knew how great they could be. These little guys put a smile on my face.
Animals can be uplifting because they are so cute. Penguins are cute as chicks and adults. As I watched the videos I kept saying awe. Penguins weren’t the only animals I watched. I watched tigers, turtles, hippos, sloths. Once you start watching it’s hard to stop. I knew going in that I was going to be watching for a while.
All my worries were in the back of my head because I was watching something that makes me happy. Animals are cute and make people happy. Even if you don’t like animals, try to give them a chance (By watching them. Don’t persuade anyone to get a dog.)
Distracting yourself from things that worry you help you not focus on the things that are wrong. I know I need a lot of distracting. My OCD can cause me to be hyper-focused on things that are trivial or don’t matter.
If animals aren’t your thing, then find something that makes you feel relaxed and happy and take your mind off of everything that is wrong.
I will continue to look at animal videos and learn while I watch. Learning is always a good thing.
