What Isn’t OCD?

What is OCD? Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Not Overly Cleaning Dysfunction. I couldn’t think of anything else that was close. But it doesn’t mean cleaning all the time. I get tired of people thinking that. Cleaning can be a compulsion, but there are many more things. OCD is a mental illness that falls under anxiety but not anymore. But I don’t know what the people studying this stuff did but just know that if you have OCD you have anxiety.

Anxiety can be healthy and normal when you’re facing a somewhat stressful situation. Things, like giving a big speech or taking a test, are good anxiety. Bad anxiety is forgetting rather or not you turned off the sink and almost having a heart attack. That’s not good.

Thinking about situations over and over again is worse. What’s even worse is driving all the way home just to check the sink. That’s a compulsion.

Trying to rid compulsions doesn’t happen overnight. Practicing different strategies to keep yourself from going mad can be difficult. It can be hard trying not to do simple things like moving a book a few inches to the right or washing your hands when you have the urge to do so. Fight the urge. The world will be okay if that one cup on the self is turned the wrong way. It will feel weird at first. It will even make your head hurt, but it will be okay. The world will keep spinning.

I am a personal blogger! I love to write and I love cookies and cake. And cheesecake. I love talking about my experiences in life. I like to write fiction and invent different worlds in my head. I enjoy watching movies, but I'm not a horror fan. I like watching Disney movies and hope to one day create a Disney Princess.
